While United States is known for many sports like NFL and basketball, formula one has also been gaining traction in the last few decades. If you are new to F1, it is possible you might wonder; where is the US grand prix hosted or held every season?

If you are interested in attending this year’s racing event, you will be at the Circuit of the Americas, or COTA, as is popularly known. That is the venue of the US grand prix.
It is good to know that the first time Austin hosted the formula one race was in 2012. This was at the purpose-built Circuit of the Americas.
Initial results showed that the event was an immediate success. It has continued to grow and attract huge crowds over the years.
Austin is an interesting city. Some argue that it is one of the coolest cities in America.
The circuit itself is well-designed, with an interesting mix of corners, including a spectacular Turn 1, which has an apex at the top of a hill, with the track falling away steeply at the exit.
Daniel Ricciardo is quoted to have said, “The Circuit of The Americas, in my opinion, is the best of the new breed of circuits.”
Ricciardo is currently driving for McLaren F1 team alongside Lando Norris.
US Grand Prix in 2021 and 2022
It is important to note that the US grand prix is usually held towards the end of the season.
In 2021, this will be in the month of October. The US grand prix will be held on Sunday, 24th October 2021. As usual, there will be activities from Thursday through to Sunday when the light go green.
However, starting 2022, there will be another grand prix in the United States. This will be at Miami, and the race has already been scheduled for the month of May, 2022.
It was important to ensure that the two races are slotted in the calendar. F1 management have done a good job to keep the two race event separate.
This will be exciting, and continue to show how much US market is to the formula one sport.
